The Toronto Maple Leafs listed forward John Tavares as week-to-week with a lower-body injury on Saturday.
The designation means the 36-year-old veteran could be sidelined for up to six weeks, according to The Athletic.
Tavares exited Thursday’s game against Buffalo after a collision with Sabres forward Joshua Norris.
Tavares has seven points (two goals, five assists) in seven games this season, his ninth with Toronto and 18th in the NHL.
He has 1,192 points (527 goals, 665 assists) in 1,273 career games with the Islanders (2009-18) and Maple Leafs since New York drafted him No. 1 overall in 2009.
