The 12 Strays of Christmas

96 1 WHNN is bringing awareness for the need to find good homes for dogs during the holiday season.  Presenting:  The 12 Strays of Christmas!  It’s sponsored by Posh Pets Grooming Boutique in Saginaw!    For 12 weekdays in December, WHNN’s morning host Rachel Geddes will announce a featured fur baby of the day.   The doggie could be from one of these three:

  • Saginaw County Animal Care and Control
  • Humane Society of Bay County
  • Midland County Pit Stop

Each day, Rachel will tell us the story of a particular of an adoptable dog.   We’ll have their photo and their story here on our website.  And of course how to go about adopting them.

Day 12:

This is the “Lion King” litter made up of 3 puppies. As these puppies are only 4 weeks old, it will be a few weeks before they are available for adoption. Their names have not yet been assigned. But as you can see they are cute as little buttons and will be able to be trained and grow with you and your family.

If you are interested in this litter of puppies, get your application in now by contacting the Humane Society of Bay County right away! You can call them at (989) 893-0451 or contact them through email at [email protected] or via their website humanesocietybaycounty.org/top.org/. The Humane Society of Bay County, a registered 501(c)(3), was formed in November 1984 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized a need within our community.  Since that time, the organization has acted as the animal advocate in our community.  Your support continues to be our inspiration as we look forward to a future of improved welfare for all animals.

Day 11:

Ramona is a big girl for a 2 year old, Boxer Pitbull mix. She was discovered in an abandoned drug store in Flint. It was clear that she had puppies at some point. Much to our despair, she was heart-worm positive and needs to complete treatment (which is very intense) before she can go home. She will require an understanding home that will take the time to train and socialize her properly. She adores the family she is with and would make a great addition to any family.
If Ramona sounds like the dog for you, contact the Humane Society of Bay County right away! You can call them at (989) 893-0451 or contact them through email at [email protected] or via their website humanesocietybaycounty.org/top.org/. Day 10:

Meet Beatrix! Beatrix looks like she loves a comfy bed and an afternoon nap! Beatrix was rescued by Midland County Pit Stop after her and her owner were living outside. She was surrendered to the rescue so she could get a new family. She is a very sweet 9 year old girl that loves people but is a little slow to warm up to men. As a senior doggy she loves a good couch and long, slow walks.

Day 9:

We have introduced Maui before but she has been with us for 245 days and we think it’s time he found his forever family.
Hi guys! It’s me Maui! Here are the important things you need to know about me: I’m a cuddler. In fact, I think I’m a lap dog. I’m not a tiny boy. I am a big and strong dog, which makes the fact that I’m a cuddler even better! If my next family would be willing to train me that would be great! Sometimes I pull on the leash, but I’m easily correctable and want to please my humans. I do like to play with other dogs. If you have another dog I’d really like to meet him/her.
If Maui sounds like the dog for you, contact the Saginaw County Animal Care & Control right away! Call 989-797-4500 or visit them at 1312 Gratiot Avenue in Saginaw. Open Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. Closed Saturday-Sunday.

Day 8:

Little Helen was found running out on US-23. Which is the worst place for a little dog with her special challenges. She was underweight, flea infested, and has a terrible case of dental disease. She is blind and deaf. Helen is settling in to her foster home and is comfortable by the other dogs and cats. She is 14 and will need a loving, quiet, and patient home.

If Helen sounds like the dog for you, contact the Humane Society of Bay County right away! You can call them at (989) 893-0451 or contact them through email at [email protected] or via their website humanesocietybaycounty.org/top.org/. Day 7:

Kylie is a 2 year old ball of energy!  She can run and play for hours so if you like to run or ride a bike Kylie will gladly be by your side!  After some playtime in the shelter yard Kylie returns to her kennel and always turns around to give her “walker” a thank you kiss. She is super smart and learns routine very quickly.  Her ideal home would have kids over 10, no other animals, and preferably but not required a fenced in backyard.

If Kylie sounds like the dog for you, contact the Saginaw County Animal Care & Control right away! Call 989-797-4500 or visit them at 1312 Gratiot Avenue in Saginaw. Open Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. Closed Saturday-Sunday.

Day 6:

Stanley is an 11 week old US Virgin Islands Mix. We think he’s a mix of chihuahua, Doxie, Black Mouth Curr and Lab. He was found in the dump by our friends in St Croix, US Virgin Islands. But here’s your warning! DO NOT 👀LOOK 👀 directly into those eyes because he will steal your ❤️. He is a well behaved pup who loves to “friendly” wrestle with other pups and he loves his car seat! He even likes to entertain himself with his toys if no other pups can play. He’s vaccinated neutered and ready to go!!! Somebody’s going to have a fabulous addition to their family since Stanley gets along with other dogs, cats and kids!

If Stanley sounds like the dog for you, contact Midland County Pit Stop right away! You can call them at (989) 948-1096 or contact them through email at [email protected] or via their website www.midlandcountypitstop.org/. Day 5:

Meet the sweet face of Lilith. She was found in Tuscola County and gave birth 3 days after coming to us. She does look a little tired in her picture as any new momma would after giving birth. Lilith is still a youngster herself somewhere between 1-2 years old. Lilith wants you to know she is good with other dogs, however doesn’t prefer cats. She loves humans and the little humans (kiddos) are her first love! She is fully vetted, spayed, microchipped and ready for her forever home!

If Lilith sounds like the dog for you, contact Midland County Pit Stop right away! You can call them at (989) 948-1096 or contact them through email at [email protected] or via their website www.midlandcountypitstop.org/. Day 4:

Rump is a professional smack talker! He lets all the other dogs know he’s large and in charge. Doubt him? Don’t worry-once you listen to him serenade you, you’ll understand why we call him a professional smack talker. Rump is a strong, handsome man looking for a strong family. In his dream world, Rump would be able to sit on the couch while he watches you lift weights. He’ll encourage you and maybe get some tips for his workout regime! Speaking of his workout routine, he like toys and he’s not picky. He loves tennis balls, kongs, and whatever you throw he can chase.
Rump also wants ALL the attention and for that reason he needs to be an only child. No cats, no other dogs, and given his size probably best no small children.
If Rump sounds like the dog for you, contact the Saginaw County Animal Care & Control right away! 989-797-4500 or visit at 1312 Gratiot Ave in Saginaw. Open Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. Closed Saturday-Sunday.

Day 3:

Meet little French Fry who will melt you with those eyes every time! French Fry is a male, lab-mix who is just a puppy. He is 9 weeks old and a typical puppy. This little guy is very playful and not interested in snuggling. (At least not yet) French Fry is great with other dogs, kids, and people. He would make a great addition to your family as you could train him and make him part of your family. After a tough start in life, being abandoned at animal control, he could use some tender loving care and kisses.
If French Fry sounds like the dog for you, contact the Humane Society of Bay County right away! You can call them at (989) 893-0451 or contact them through email at [email protected] or via their website humanesocietybaycounty.org/top.org/. Day 2:

Heeeeeere’s Hershey! Hershey is just getting her start in life at 9 weeks old. She is a mixed breed pup, super sweet and loves to play around as a puppy would. Hershey’s mom was found in Tuscola County, extremely pregnant with Hershey and her 4 siblings. Within a few days of the folks at Midland County Pit Stop getting her she gave birth to 5 puppies. Whoa mama! Now Hershey and her brothers and sisters need to find homes where they’ll be loved and taken care of. She is ready to be trained and raised as a member of your family. Will you take Hershey home for the holidays and beyond?

If Hershey sounds like the dog for you, contact Midland County Pit Stop right away! You can call them at (989) 948-1096 or contact them through email at [email protected] or via their website www.midlandcountypitstop.org/. Day 1:

Say a BIG HELLO to our friend Spell! Spell is about 10 years old. She is super sweet and loves to cuddle and just chill. She gets all the biggest fluffiest blankets because they’re nice on her old bones and since she is potty trained she never gets them dirty. She knows sit and because of her age she should be an “only” dog. She’s not a fan of hyper pups. But she loves every human she meets. She has been at the shelter since June 24th so she’s been patiently waiting for a new family. Will you take Spell home for the holidays?

If Spell sounds like the dog for you, contact the Saginaw County Animal Care & Control right away! 989-797-4500 or visit at 1312 Gratiot Ave in Saginaw. Open Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. Closed Saturday-Sunday.
