Midland County’s only soup kitchen will provide a special holiday meal for Easter even as pandemic restrictions continue. Open Door’s Easter Dinner will take place from 6:00-7:00 PM at the ministry’s soup kitchen location at 412 W. Buttles St. across from the BP gas station. This year, the holiday meal will be served grab-and-go style for easy pick-up and distribution among Midland neighbors.

Since 2020, Midland’s Open Door has experienced a 48% increase in meal demand due to the pandemic and the aftermath of regional flooding. All meals, including the holiday dinner, are free of charge, and are provided and prepared by members of the generous community.

Midland’s Open Door operates the only soup kitchen in Midland County, providing over 71,000 meals in 2020. In addition, its shelters provide almost 9,000 nights of shelter annually.
